SSC photo and signature size

The short answer
In the 2026 SSC notices you don’t upload a photo: the application takes it live with your camera. You upload only the signature, as a JPEG of 10–20 KB, about 6.0 cm wide by 2.0 cm tall.
SSC application (2026 notices)
| Signature | JPEG, 10 – 20 KB, about 6.0 × 2.0 cm |
|---|---|
| Photograph | taken live by the application with your camera — there is no photo file to upload |
| Photograph (older notices) | JPEG, 20 – 50 KB, about 3.5 × 4.5 cm |
The live photo
The application module captures your photograph when it asks for it, so you don’t need an existing one. The notice asks for a place with good light and a plain background, the camera at eye level, and no cap, mask or glasses. Don’t hold up an old photo to the camera: applications that capture a picture of a picture are rejected. The way you look on exam day should match the photo.
The signature
Sign on plain white paper in dark ink, photograph or scan it straight on, and crop tightly around the ink — a wide rectangle about three times as wide as it is tall matches the 6.0 × 2.0 cm the notice describes. Then compress it into the 10–20 KB band. The signature walkthrough goes through it step by step; blurred or tiny signatures are rejected.
Questions
What is the SSC photo size in KB?
In the 2026 notices there is no photo file: the application captures your photo live. Older SSC notices, and many other exam forms, asked for a JPEG of 20–50 KB, about 3.5 × 4.5 cm.
What is the SSC signature size?
A JPEG of 10–20 KB, about 6.0 cm wide by 2.0 cm tall, per the 2026 notices. Use SSC signature · 10–20 KB in Compress Image to land inside the band.
Can I wear glasses for the SSC live photo?
No. The notice asks for no cap, mask or glasses/spectacles while the photo is captured, and a full frontal view.
Do these sizes apply to every SSC exam?
Each exam’s notice sets its own rules, and they change between years. These come from the CHSL 2026 notice; always check the notice for your exam.
